Probably the most interesting aspect about document management within ADempiere and iDempiere is that you can attach one or more documents to any given record. Receiving goods is one of many examples where this feature is particularly convenient. When receiving products, you can scan the vendor’s packing slip and invoice at the time of receiving. Accounting now has instant access to the records scanned by the warehouse.

A similar scenario is true when managing customer purchase orders. By attaching customer purchase orders directly to your sales orders, you capture the exact details required to exceed customer expectations. Since ADempiere includes a document approval engine, you can route the pending documents to the resources you trust most with your approval. This style of accountability helps support quality standards like ISO9001:2000.
ADempiere’s document management abilities are different from document management tools like www.alfresco.com where the core process centers around the creation, approval and versioning of documents.
Better said: ADempiere uses document management to support buying and selling products and services where Alfresco supports document lifecycle management.
