Hi Everyone,

ADempiere, Open Source Accounting and ERP, has some nice multi-national features including:

  1. Multiple accounting schemas
  2. Dynamic element posting
  3. Multiple calendars
  4. Multiple organizations/books and consolidated reporting

Accounting Schema

The Account Schema allows you to have multiple sets of books for the same organization. For any given schema, you can: (a) define the default sets of accounts or (b) choose what elements post to the GL (BP, Product, Campaign, etc…).

Here are some examples of what you can do with multiple accounting schemas:

  • You can have different rules for how you recognize or defer revenue.
  • You can show a balance as an owner equity in one schema and a liability in a different schema.
ADempiere’s Charge is one of the fundamental structures in managing multiple schemas.

Dynamic Element Posting

When documents post, they dynamically pull the relevant document details like Organization, Product, Business Partner and amounts then post them to the respective Accounting Schemas and Calendars.

Multiple Organization

Dynamic element posting is what makes ADempiere so capable at managing multiple organizations/books within the same login. Your transactional documents are assigned an organization. The accounting consequences (posting) automatically gets tagged with that organization.

Consolidated Reporting

When you produce your financial reports, you simply choose which organization, schema and calendar you want to report.

These features greatly help when you consolidate multiple sets of books across multiple currencies and report using multiple standards.
