Hi Everyone,
When trying to materialize iDempiere in Eclipse Juno (version 4.2), I ran into an Buckminster error stating:
“Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/pde/internal/core/target/provisional/ITargetPlatformService”
The error seems to be related to Eclipse Juno. I believe this because I tried to resolve the issue by switching Windows, Linux, 32-bit, 64-bit, Sun Java and openJDK. All attempts failed.
The only thing that worked was to materialize the project using a previous version of Eclipse (Indigo Version 3.7).
It seems as though most of the iDempiere developers Indigo, and I have read that Juno as some compatibility issues causing (1) osgi/workspace issues and (2) cache reset on build issues.
Summary based on my experience: It is safest and easiest to perform iDempiere development in Eclipse Indigo (Version 3.7) as of April 2013.
If you are looking to set up your own iDempiere code base, I would start here:
